A Little Bit About Us
We moved to West Dorset in 2018 following a long appreciation … of Dorset Tea! In fact, that was our only connection with Dorset having only ever previously visited Bournemouth. For years, we drank Dorset Tea as we enjoyed the flavour, but mostly, we drank it because we fell in love with the artwork on the box (a beautiful valley looking out to sea, flanked by dramatic hills and patchwork fields). Every morning when we made our first brew of the day, the scene on the box gave us simple cheer, and being big Dorset Tea drinkers we looked at that cheerful scene several times a day for many years!
In 2018 we relocated and travelled nationwide searching for our dream property – a family home with a neighbouring holiday cottage. We viewed Frogmore and looked no further.
Stepping out onto the veranda for the first time we were transfixed by the view – almost identical to the scene on the Dorset Tea box that we had loved looking at for many previous years! We fell in love with the property immediately and were blown away by its location on the Jurassic Coast, and the total charm of the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty, and everything that the West Dorset area offered.
A total renovation and refurbishment of the holiday cottage took place and ‘Frog by the Sea Cottage’ opened in August 2019.
We still enjoy drinking Dorset Tea and a box is added to every welcome hamper for our guests to enjoy.
Two further luxury Frogs are currently being renovated (Metamorphosing!) on Frogmore Farm and are due to open 2025-2026. They will both sleep two guests.

Yes complimentary off road parking is available for up to three cars. Additional cars by arrangement
Guests may arrive from 5pm onwards (we can offer an earlier arrival if no other guests are departing the same day)
By 9am on departure day. (we can offer a later departure if no other guests are due to arrive the same day
Yes by prior arrangement.
Electric vehicles – Public charging stations are in Bridport (2 miles), Chideock (1 mile), West Bay (2 miles) and Lyme Regis (8 miles). Electric vehicles are not permitted to be charged at the property.
There are two petrol stations in Bridport (2 miles).
Yes, this typically contains tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and items to make a snack and light breakfast.
Yes a starter supply of various cleaning and sundry items is included (please see inventory list).
Yes with prior notice. We can provide complimentary balloons and bunting set up ready for arrival. Helium balloons can be arranged at cost price (with at least two weeks prior notice).
In the private garden to the side of the cottage, or the private paddock close to the cottage. Footpaths close to the cottage lead to miles of coastal and countryside walks, including the South West Coastal path.

Additionally (with prior notice) the following complimentary items are available during your stay;
- Stair gates (these can be placed on the Veranda entrance and cottage staircase).
- Dog crate (subject to size suitability of the dog).
- Metal food and water bowls.
- Dog towels (and fresh dog towels supplied during your stay if required).
- A watering can to wash off muddy paws (we are hoping to install a warm water external dog shower in 2020).
- Dog waste bins are located near the cottage garden and in the private exercise paddock. Please state the size/breed of your dog(s) on your booking form and specify if you require any stair gates or a dog crate.
Yes, first dog is £35 and second and third dogs £20 each. Up to three well behaved dogs are welcome.
No, all ages of children are welcome at Frog by the Sea Cottage.
With prior notice the following items are available for use during your stay (please state on your booking form if you require any of the following complimentary items);
- Stair gates, available at the bottom of cottage stairs, top of cottage stairs, and on the veranda entrance (please state your requirements when booking).
- Travel cot – a “Hauck” folding travel cot, suitable to 15kg is available with prior notice. (120 x 60cm) with a “Hauck” travel cot mattress COT LINEN IS NOT PROVIDED, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN.
- High chair.
- Tommee Tippee Super Steam advanced Electric Steriliser.
- Changing mat.
- Child crockery.
- Child cutlery.
No, smoking and vaping is not permitted inside the cottage or conservatory.
Of course. Frog by the Sea Cottage is very popular with couples (2 people). The Master bedroom Sea views, hot tub and stunning location make Frog by the Sea Cottage a popular choice for couples looking for a luxury seaside romantic getaway, particularly for honeymoons, babymoons, anniversaries and special occasions.
The cottage is also popular with photographers, artists, authors, walkers, and wildlife enthusiasts booked individually, as a couple or group of up to 6 people.
Yes, there is a minimum stay of three nights.
Yes, 3 night weekend breaks (Friday to Monday) and 4 night midweek breaks (Monday to Friday) are available between November and March.
Changeover day is on a Friday between April and October, and the option of Friday or Monday changeover days (to incorporate short breaks) between November and March.
Yes, Christmas and New Year celebrations by the sea are very special, a post Christmas Dinner walk along the beach, relaxing by the cosy log burner in the cottage and star gazing from the Hot tub make for a memorable Christmas and New Year Celebration. A complimentary Christmas tree and decorations are provided.
Yes complimentary wifi is provided. Please note that internet access is offered at Frog by the Sea for recreational purposes only and is not meant for business use. Speed/service may vary and is provided to guests free of charge. Should guests experience difficulties or loss of use, the owners will not be held responsible.
No, a BBQ is not provided. For insurance purposes barbecuing is not permitted on the property.
